Applications
Multifunction DFR/PMU Capabilities – More
Mehta Tech’s multifunction DFR/PMU products include the following capabilities
- Trigger-initiated storage of waveform and event data
- Continuous storage of analog values and event data
- Phasor data streaming using synchrophasor protocol
All applications are serviced concurrently, have their own settings and operate independently. Read more > (PDF)
Capacity and Configurability – More
Our DFR/PMU systems are suitable for monitoring a typical large HV transmission substation or generating plant. As a result, data aggregation devices are not needed. They also include setting provisions to custom configure each installation for the site and specific application requirements. Cross-trigger and remote trigger capabilities are also supported.

Time Synchronization – More
The DFR/PMU includes a stable internal clock with provision for synchronizing the measurements and their time stamp with an external GPS signal for precise time of measurement to satisfy the time accuracy requirements of NERC’s disturbance monitoring (DME) and reporting standard PRC-002-2. The time-synchronized sampling supports the PMU function for synchrophasor measurements.
Trigger-initiated Fault Recording (DFR) – More
The DFR/PMU includes trigger-detection capabilities to record high speed waveform (point on wave) and event data. Provisions are included to select record length and to optimize memory management parameters.
Continuous Local Storage (DDR) – More
The DFR/PMU includes provision to storage analog input values and event data continuously for disturbance monitoring or data logging. Measured values as well as calculated results are stored. Capability for users to select data to be stored, storage rate and length of file for storage is also supported.
Phasor Data Streaming (PMU) – More
The DFR/PMU includes phasor data streaming capability using the IEEE C37.118 standard. Capability for users to select data to be streamed is included. Users are able to use the standard’s 16-character naming convention of their choice for the Phasor data.
COMTRADE (IEEE C37.111-1999 & 2013) and IEEE File Naming Convention (IEEE C37.232-2011) – More
Mehta Tech’s data format and file naming capabilities are richer than the IEEE standards. Our products include software to convert data and file names into the IEEE formats.
Data for NERC PRC-002 (DME) Requirements – More
The DFR/PMU provides the capabilities required to meet the requirements of NERC disturbance monitoring and reporting standard PRC-002-2.
PMU Functionality – More
The DFR/PMU meets the requirements of IEEE standard C37.118.
